Ski and Snwoboard weekend.

Ski and snowboard trip to South Estonia for a long weekend!

Yes! Simple as that. Just enjoy the snow and hills because we are going for a winter-sports holiday to South Estonia to try out the local slopes.

We have booked a cozy house only for our small group. This will be only our home for this nice long weekend.

We will have sauna evenings both nights, we’ll prepare breakfasts and dinners for you and our bus will bring us all to the mountains and back. You will get the equipment from the accommodation and you can try both, snowboarding and downhill skiing. And no worries if you have never tried it before – we have professional instructors giving us lessons!

Programme of the trip

Otepää is the winter capital of Estonia and this season, winter 2021, there is plenty of snow to go and enjoy it all! The ski resorts in Kuutsemäe and Väike Munamägi are working with full power, all the slopes open and waiting for us.

This weekend is for everyone and only about enjoying the winter. No stories from guides, no museum visits, no duties. Just relax.

Read from below, how this weekend is planned, mark it down to your calendar and join the ride!

It is a must visit place (also the only place) if you like downhill skiing and snowboarding. All in all 18 slopes, in total length of 4,75 km (3,75 km illuminated and artificial snow) and 12 lifts working in KuutsemäeVäike-Munamägi and Viimsi Mäepark.

For those who love more cross country skiingTehvandi Sports Center is open and kilometers of perfect tracks are waiting fir you. This is a place where the national teams of different countries usually train as the training conditions here are perfect. Tartu Marathon, the biggest event Estonia has each winter, starts from here and we all have the opportunity to test it!

Plan of the weekend goes like this…
DAY 1: Friday

We meet 9am departure from Tallinn (three pickups: Academic hostel, Larsen house, Mere pst 5) and start our drive towards winter capital Otepää (the highest city in Estonia) and a bit further – to our accommodation close to Kuutsemäe. We settle ourselves in, stretch a bit and eat lunch. We’ll get to know the place and go to discover Otepää and the Winterpalace – snowtubing. Later in the evening we will choose our skis or snowboards for the next day and enjoy dinner and sauna at our accommodation.

DAY 2: Saturday

After breakfast it’s time to go to discover Kuutsemägi hill for downhill skiing or snowboarding. We’ll stay on the hill for some hours and those who feel like having lunch in our accommodation can go for lunch and those who want to take maximum from the hill, stay on the hill (there are restaurants on the hill for food and drinks). Cross country skiing is also possible to try out and we have our bus with the driver for the whole day in case someone would like to go back to our accommodation earlier. We are back on tracks in the afternoon and enjoy the rides until closing. We’ll arrive back to our accommodation for sauna, dinner and board games.

DAY 3: Sunday

It’s our last day in the area and we’ll decide together if we stay on Kuutsemäe or go to check out Suur Munamägi hill.  First we take breakfast and then we’ll enjoy the hills, have lunch in our accommodation and then start the drive back towards Tallinn. If we have enough energy, we can have a stop in Tartu for sightseeing and we arrive back to Tallinn later in the evening. And again, we are happy to bring all our travelers back to dormitories.
