Paljassaare peninsula nature walk

Join us for a winter wonderland walk on Paljassaare peninsula!

We’ll enjoy a 6km nature walk in the capital of Estonia, formerly closed territory is now nature conservation area. On our way, we will see the bird-watch towers, leftovers from soviet borders, Peter the Great sea fortress ruins, barbwire, blue sea and the beaches. Get to know Tallinn from completely another viewpoint, it’s a great hidden treasure that you need to know about!

  • Walk on Paljassaare peninsula
  • Stories on the way
  • Stops at viewpoints and watchtowers
  • Walk back towards the start
  • Lunch in open air with hot tea and dessert
  • End of the event

We get together at Katariina pier (at the blue heart) and start our walk in snow. During the day we will tell you more about Estonian nature, we will see birds and typical trees, cliff, seaside and beach area. At Paljassaare birdwatching area and the conservation area it is possible to see over 200 different species of birds. We shall see swans on our way and we will explain to you, how to make difference between mute swan and whooper swan!

We’ll also explain about the seasons in Estonia and give overview of the temperatures and daylight situation. By the end of the walk, you are on the way becoming an expert of Estonia and Estonians. We finish the walk at around 2pm and then enjoy lunch: hot soup, Estonian rye bread, herbal tea and something sweet.  You can ask your questions from us and enjoy the moment. We finish the day at around 2.30pm.

Once you have visited Paljassaare peninsula area (Katariina pier, Pikakari beach and the path) you can easily find your way back here. We recommend to visit this area again at springtime to notice the fresh blossoms and leaves on trees, or at summertime for sunbathing and swimming.  This is what locals do!
