DayTrips

DayTrip to Virumaa – Rakvere castle, Käsmu maritime museum, beaver track and Viru bog!

Join us and ESN Tallinn for an amazing 10h DayTrip to discover more of your new home-country Estonia!

We have prepared a great day full of activities. We start the day in the morning with something special for breakfast in the bus and we hit the road towards Rakvere, a small town 100km from Tallinn. In Rakvere, we will visit medieval fortress together with a local guide and you will all have an opportunity to practice for battles, see the cannon shot, visit torture chamber and the hell. After all these activities, we will eat some proper medieval lunch in the fortress restaurant and then it is time to discover Rakvere city by bus tour and continue our day.

Our next stop brings us to Käsmu – a small fishermen village with a very special museum – very well know Käsmu Maritime museum. A place that shows the life of this small village, life of sailors and boat construction tools and methods. After some history and chat with the charismatic owner, we will continue to see some manor houses on the road.

There are a few more important things to see and visit in this area – beaver track and Viru bog. These visits will bring us to wild nature and we are going to see, how beavers live and what they can cause with their lifestyle. And as it is autumn time, one must-visit place for all locals and visitors is Viru bog – a great hiking track for around 3km. Wooden path on water with autumn colors.

Despite the weather and temperatures, we have some hot tea and Estonian snacks to enjoy before we arrive back home in the evening.

As true fans of Estonia, your local group leaders are happy to show you their home-country, tell you many stories about locals and the country.

This trip is also a great way to meet new people, even if you don’t know anyone yet… join our trip and you will know at least 40 people more.

About me

My name is Mariane. I am Estonian who grew up in Tallinn and I am mother of three children. Being on maternity leave for some years has given me opportunity to develop my skills in new fields – designing e-services and learning professional guiding. I have graduated two masters’ degrees, worked in scientific laboratory and university international relations office, I have been a volunteer in a student organization (ESN) for many years and managing organizing trips to Lapland, St. Petersburg and around-Estonia with our family company “Marmot”.

For the last five years, I have been involved in organizing trips and tours to international students who study in Tallinn.

After receiving my official licence to be a professional guide in Tallinn, I take good care of tourists who come to discover Tallinn and Estonia for hours, a day or a week.

There are so many interesting and historic places to show in and around Tallinn. I have prepared some ready-made tours and visits but if you are interested in something else or more specific, then tell me and we can arrange a good plan to see all that.

I am passionate and interested to all the things I’m involved with. This makes me work on even the smallest details to keep things running smoothly with the best quality and outcome.

In my work as a guide and tour organizer, I am precise and well prepared. Experience from previous experiences has made me flexible in planning or unexpected situations, and taught me a lot of skills.
