DayTrip #3 this semester – Rummu and Paldiski, 28. April

We are happy to invite you to our third DayTrip of this semester. This trip takes us to Rummu Quarry area and Paldiski with its Pakri Lighthouse.

It is a unique opportunity to visit Rummu Quarry area with us as it is a closed area with prebooked guided visits only. With us its easy as it is all already planned. We will go inside the old prison territory, walk in the area and enter the buildings. In addition to the visit and discovering the area, we will eat hot soup, taste some sweets with warm tea and enjoy the moment by the blue water. See more from here.

To see some Rummu prison views, check out the video by Adam Walker “Faded”

After Rummu area, we will drive to Paldiski – a former closed city. We will see, what has happened and what is still there, we will walk on the limestone cliff and climb up to Pakri Lighthouse. The lighthouse is still working and functioning and the first lighthouse was built on the same spot more than 300 years ago by the rule of Peter the Great!

Join us for this 6h DayTrip on Sunday, 28. April. Register at trip.mareti.ee.

Join us for a 1-day trip! Rakvere castle, Käsmu maritime museum, beaver track and Viru bog!

We have some great news for the beginning of this semester!

Join us and ESN Tallinn for an amazing 10h day-trip to discover more of your new home-country Estonia!

We have prepared a great day full of activities. We start the day in the morning with something special for breakfast in the bus and we hit the road towards Rakvere, a small town 100km from Tallinn. In Rakvere, we will visit medieval fortress together with a local guide and you will all have an opportunity to practice for battles, see the cannon shot, visit torture chamber and the hell. After all these activities, we will eat some proper medieval lunch in the fortress restaurant and then it is time to discover Rakvere city by bus tour and continue our day.

Our next stop brings us to Käsmu – a small fishermen village with a very special museum – very well know Käsmu Maritime museum. A place that shows thel ife of this small village, life of sailors and boat construction tools and methods. After some history and chat with the charismatic owner, we will continue to see some manor houses on the road.

There are a few more important things to see and visit in this area – beaver track and Viru bog. These visits will bring us to wild nature and we are going to see, how beavers live and what they can cause with their lifestyle. And as it is autumn time, one must-visit place for all locals and visitors is Viru bog – a great hiking track for around 3km. Wooden path on water with autumn colors.

Despite the weather and temperatures, we have some hot tea and Estonian snacks to enjoy before we arrive back home in the evening.

As true fans of Estonia, your local group leaders are happy to show you their home-country, tell you many stories about locals and the country.

This trip is also a great way to meet new people, even if you don’t know anyone yet… join our trip and you will know at least 40 people more.

Dates for similar trips are:

  • Saturday, 29. September
  • Sunday, 30. September

All this for 50 euros. Great way to enjoy a long day in the countryside with food and visits included! Departure at 9am and arrival back at 7pm.

Registration starts on 1. September. Create your profile already now and be ready to select your favorite date for this and other Mareti trips! Stay tuned!
